Gabby Barrett hinted at new music, and confirmed the next single is reminiscent of her iconic breakup anthem.

Barrett released her breakout single, “I Hope,” as the first single from her debut album, Goldmine, following her run on American Idol. The scathing lyrics of the heartbreak song portray the singer wishing her ex well in his new relationship, only to get cheated on like he did to her: “I hope you both feel the sparks by the end of the drive/ I hope you know she's the one by the end of the night/ I hope you never ever felt more free/ Tell your friends that you're so happy/ I hope she comes along and wrecks every one of your plans/ I hope you spend your last dime to put a rock on her hand/ I hope she's wilder than your wildest dreams/ She's everything you're ever gonna need/ And then I hope she cheats/ Like you did on me/ And then I hope she cheats/ Like you did on me.”

Barrett, 24, teased a new song on Instagram on Monday evening (January 13). The singer-songwriter said “the next song coming out is giving ‘I Hope’ vibes,” though she didn’t confirm the title, release date or any other details as of publication time on Tuesday (January 14).

Goldmine arrived in 2020, and the deluxe edition followed in 2021. Barrett’s debut era included “I Hope” — plus a duet version with Charlie Puth — “Footprints On The Moon,” “The Good Ones,” “Pick Me Up” and more. In 2024, Barrett released two albums in one year. Her sophomore record, Chapter & Verse, arrived in February. The 14-track project included “Cowboy Back,” “Dance Like No One’s Watching,” “Glory Days,” “Growin’ Up Raising You” and other highlights. In November, Barrett released her stunning renditions of Christmas classics on her first-ever holiday project, Carols and Candlelight.
