Jason Aldean Tells Heartfelt Story Of 'Trying To Play It Cool' After Split

Jason Aldean is “trying to play it cool after a breakup,” in the lyrics of a new song from his upcoming studio record, Songs About Us.

Aldean released “Don’t Tell On Me” on Friday (February 27). Tully Kennedy, Kurt Allison, John Morgan and Lydia Vaughan teamed up to write the Songs About Us track, which Aldean hailed “one of my favorite songs.” The reigning Academy of Country Music Artist of the Decade shared, “this is one of those songs where this guy’s just kind of, basically, talking to his heart and saying, you know, ‘listen, you know it and I know it. I’m a mess. …you’re broken. But don’t let the cat out of the bag. Don’t let anybody know that this happened. You’re the only one that I can kind of trust with this.’ So, basically, the guy’s talking to his heart, saying, ‘don’t let people know what’s happened. Don’t tell on me.’”

Aldean also released “Drinking About You” and “Dust On the Bottle” with David Lee Murphy from his upcoming 20-track album. So far, the country hitmaker has debuted lead single “How Far Does A Goodbye Go,” “Easier Gone” (a duet with wife Brittany Aldean), “Help You Remember,” “What’s A Little Heartache,” “Hard To Love You,” “Her Favorite Color” and “Lovin’ Me Too Long.” The full album is due on April 24. This summer, Aldean will kick off his headlining “Songs About Us Tour” with special guests Chase Matthew, Mackenzie Carpenter and Dee Jay Silver. Tickets will be available to the general public beginning at 10 a.m. local time on Friday, March 6. Scroll below for the full list of dates.

“It means the world when one of my songs helps someone through a hard time—or celebrates their best moments,” Aldean said in a statement when he announced album details in November 2025. “This album is about all of that—the highs, the lows, and everything in between. Every track started with a real story or feeling, and together we turned those experiences into music. In the end, I realized this album is about all of us. These are songs about us.”
