Kane Brown is honoring United States military veterans with a new remix of his 2019 hit single, "Homesick." Released as a part of a collaboration with the Crown Royal Purple Bag Project, proceeds from the song will go to help our American heroes.
For every stream of "Homesick (Veterans Version)," the Crown Royal Purple Bag Project will pack one bag to donate to the non-profit organization Packages From Home, which supports American heroes on the frontlines including first responders, healthcare workers and active-duty military service members. The "Homesick" remix will help The Crown Royal Purple Bag Project reach its goal of packing one million bags by the end of 2020.
Additionally, the Purple Bag Project will donate $1 for every stream of the song, with a cap of $100,000, to Minority Veterans of America.
According to a press release, "Crown Royal and Kane Brown are committed to supporting the American heroes who have generously served our country during these unprecedented times, including frontline and essential workers, first responders, healthcare workers, active-duty military service members and those who are fighting for social justice in the minority veteran community."
"Homesick (Veterans Version)" features vocals from military veterans Generald Wilson, Retired Petty Officer First Class, U.S. Navy; J.W. Cortes, Retired Gunnery Sergeant, U.S. Marines; and Sal Gonzalez, Retired Lance Corporal, U.S. Marines. The inclusion of these three veterans adds a new feel to the song for Brown.
"I feel like it's a lot more powerful, too, because you got three veterans singing on it," Brown says of the remix. "You just kind of feel them being homesick while they're singing the song. It's different."
"Homesick" was released in August 2019 as the third single from Brown's Experiment album. The original music video for the song also honors veterans as it features Brown performing for members of the California National Guard along with footage of servicemen and women returning home to their families.
