People all over the world will be wearing blue today (Wednesday) for World Autism Awareness Day.

For the seventh straight year, autism organizations around the world will celebrate the day with fundraising and awareness-raising events. In addition to people wearing blue, many landmarks like the EmpireStateBuilding,

Niagara Falls and the Sydney Opera House will be illuminated with blue lights.

According to a recent study, autism rates have more than doubled since 2000 and now one in every 68 eight-year-old children are believed to be affected by autism.
